September Newsletter - The Woodlands, TX Family Photographer

We have been Texans for exactly one month today and there have been many adventures, fun times, hard times, tears (both sad and happy), stressful moments and the list goes on and on.  We really like it here in The Woodlands and we also really miss everyone back in Colorado!  People weren't lying when they said it is HOT, but the evenings are starting to feel wonderful and we are enjoying walking to many restaurants and activities around our apartment... oh and the apartment...  We are in a one bedroom, 700 sq/ft apartment.  Yes, all of us!  We have a slumber party EVERY. NIGHT!  We are SO excited to close on our house THIS Thursday and really get settled in!  I have been starting to meet some people and will be getting back into sessions soon!  It will feel so great to get back to work!  I have had more free time than I am used to and I have to say, I am ready to be a little more busy!  I have enjoyed a little reading and have been able to work on my website some, which I really enjoy!  But, I miss the creative outlet that I get when I have clients to photograph!  I can't wait to see what this next chapter brings... we are so hopeful and expectant that Texas is going to bring many awesome adventures and times for our family!  So, stay tuned!

Fall Photoshoot Outfits.

What to wear for you fall photoshoots... it can be a little overwhelming!  Here are a few tips when you start to gather your family outfits.

  1. Mom, start with you!  I think it is the most important for the mom the feel good the day of the session and feel good about what you are wearing.  You will be the most critical of yourself when you are picking your favorite photos, so make sure you wear something you feel good in.
  2. Don't worry about being super matchy-matchy.  Choose a color palette and stay within it, but don't worry if there are 2 different blues, or 2 different patterns.
  3. Avoid words and logos.  These tend to take the attention off of the subject and can be distracting.
  4. Add some pops of color.  If you are going with grays and blues, try adding a little yellow or pink.  If you are going with browns, try adding some turquoise, red or orange.
